A can labeled “1-Part Epoxy” and a two-component epoxy kit are not the same chemistry delivered in different packaging. One is ready to use; the other begins a chemical cure after Part A and Part B are mixed. That difference affects working time, film build, cure and how the product should be compared.
What “1-Part Epoxy” Can Mean
Behr’s current Concrete & Garage Self-Priming 1-Part Epoxy is a useful real-world example. Behr describes it as water-based, ready-to-use and no-mix; its professional product literature identifies the resin type as epoxy/acrylic. It is sold as a consumer-friendly concrete floor paint, with published hot-tire, chemical and weather-resistance claims.
That does not make it “fake.” It means the homeowner should compare it as the product it actually is rather than assume the word epoxy makes it equivalent to a catalyzed resin system.
What a 2-Part Epoxy Is
Rust-Oleum’s EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating, for example, is a two-component water-based epoxy. Its technical sheet identifies an amine-cured epoxy resin, a mixing ratio, pot life, recommended wet/dry film thickness and a full-cure period. Once mixed, the material has a limited working window because the cure reaction has begun.

The Better Question: What Service Level Do You Need?
A lightly used storage room, a driveway, and a two-car garage with hot tires are different service environments. A lower-cost ready-to-use coating may be reasonable for one job while a higher-build catalyzed system makes more sense for another. Do not compare them solely by gallon price.
